Antonia Blanco is a Spanish artist who has a Ph.D. in Fine Arts. She is very interested in changing landscapes and in exploring how we can create a personal artistic speech through it. Originally from Jaén, Spain, her current residence is the city of Seville in Spain. She actively seeks out new landscapes through her artwork, and thanks to scholarships funded by the University of Seville and to the invitation of artists and professors from the United States, she has had residencies in Lincoln, NE, in Tucson, AZ and in Reno, NV. Her research stays in Nebraska, Arizona and Nevada have offered her a very enriching interpretation of landscape. Abstraction is a key subject in her artistic language. Also, she is very interested in experimentation, which helps her understand the aesthetic and the narrative of nature. Her compositions are very suggestive and do not offer an explicit lens through which to perceive the world. Seeing and perceiving are very personal to her, so her main goal is to understand landscape through her images, and feel herself part of nature. She loves discovering new landscapes around the world, and also, she needs to discover her own personal landscape that is inside her mind. Creation is a necessity for her, as well as the intimate interpretation of our contemporary landscape that is laid in time and space.
